Create an assignment

New assignment is the page where you create an assignment in six steps.

New assignment for Pitch to a Buyer with Marlow Outdoor Supply.

Describe the assignment is a box at the top of the Pack step in New assignment. You write the assignment there in your own words, and Ask Prepara then fills in the six steps for you to check and change.

The Assignments page

Assignments in the Studio's menu opens the class's Assignments page. The title line shows Assignments and New assignment. The page shows four number tiles under the title. Each tile opens a page or view only while it counts something. Due next shows the next assignment due or Nothing due. Due next opens that assignment's page. Waiting for you shows the number of videos that need your attention, with counts such as 1 to grade, 1 to comment on (no grade) underneath. Waiting for you opens the video in the player when one video waits. Waiting for you opens the Videos view with only the videos waiting for you when several videos wait. Videos submitted shows the submission total and the number of students who submitted, such as By 13 of the 25 students. A discussion counts once in that total. Videos submitted opens the Videos view. Assignments shows the total number of assignments and how many are open. Assignments opens the Cards view with only the open and past-due assignments. The heading below includes the assignment count, such as Assignments (9). The heading shows a count such as Assignments (3 of 9) after you press the Assignments tile. A row below the heading shows Open and past due with the button Show every assignment. The switch beside that heading has three tabs: Cards, Table and Videos. Each tab shows its icon and its label, and each tab shows a description when you point at it: Show each assignment as a card with its videos, Show the assignments as a table or Show all videos by assignment. Cards is the default. The Studio keeps your choice in that browser.

On the pageWhat it shows or opens
CardsEach card shows the assignment's whole name, its state such as Open, its due date, its points, how it is scored, Discussion or Each student records, and Feedback held while its feedback is held. Under them are a bar of the students who submitted, the counts in words such as 4 of 25 submitted · 3 graded · Owen Hartley to grade, and the assignment's videos as pictures, with the Group recording first for a discussion.
The line under an assignment's nameThe line shows the pack and template that the assignment was made from, such as Presentations & Communication · Elevator Pitch. The scenario follows when its name differs from the assignment's name. An assignment made without a pack shows No pack.
The picture on a cardThe picture at the card's left shows the pack's cover, which also appears for that pack in New assignment.
TableEach assignment has a row with the columns Assignment, Submitted, Graded, Waiting for you and Videos. Small video pictures show each student's first name and the video's state. Each picture shows the student's full name when two students in the row share a first name.
AssignmentThe Assignment cell shows the pack and template line under the assignment's name, as the card does.
VideosThe list on the left filters videos by assignment, starting with Every assignment. All videos, Waiting for you, Graded and Discussions show counts and filter the cards. Each card shows the student, assignment and video state. Open the assignment opens the selected assignment's page.
Coral words on an assignment cardThe coral words open Needs you on Home with only that assignment's videos.
A videoThe video opens in the player on Rubric when it needs a grade and on Comments otherwise.
An assignment nameThe assignment name opens the assignment's page.

The assignment page

The assignment page opens when you open an assignment. Its title line shows the assignment's name and one line with its kind, its due date and its points, with Download and Edit assignment at the right. The page shows four number tiles under the title: Submitted, Graded, Class average for a scored assignment and Group balance for a discussion, and each tile opens what it counts. The Reports and grading card has a box for Grade next, the room report, Analytics and Download, and each box opens its page. The Students card lists the class in three tabs, and each student's row opens their video, shows their grade and has a Grade or Full report button. The Settings card shows AI grading, how the grade is made, the rubric, the Canvas column and the quiz, one line each, and a line's button opens the panel that changes it.

On the pageWhat it shows or opens
The title lineThe assignment's name, with one line under it that says whether it is a live discussion or each student records, how many rooms a discussion had, the due date and the points. Download opens the download panel, Edit assignment opens the assignment for changes, and the More menu holds Delete assignment.
SubmittedHow many students submitted, out of the class, such as 4 of 25. The tile opens the Students card with the students who submitted.
GradedHow many of the submitted videos have a grade, such as 3 of 4, and the name of the student who waits for your grade. The tile opens that student's video in the player on the Rubric tab, or the Students card when no video waits. On an assignment that is not scored the tile is Commented on.
Class averageThe average grade of the graded videos, such as 9.7 of 16. The tile opens this assignment's column in the gradebook. Before the first grade it shows No grades yet and opens nothing.
Group balanceHow evenly the students of a discussion spoke, from 0 to 100: 85 or more reads Everyone spoke about as much, 60 to 84 reads Some students spoke more than others, and under 60 reads A few students did most of the talking. The tile opens the room report at its balance. With several rooms it shows their average and opens the report across rooms.
Grade nextThe first video that waits for your grade, opened in the player on the Rubric tab. It is the coral box while a video waits. On an assignment that is not scored the box is Comment next.
Room reportThe discussion's room report. When the discussion had several rooms, the box is Report across rooms and opens the report of all of them.
AnalyticsHow the class did on each line of the rubric.
DownloadThe download panel, where you choose the full reports, the class summary and the videos to download.
Submitted, Not submitted and All studentsThe three tabs of the Students card, each with its count. Submitted is the tab that is open first.
A student's rowThe still of the student's own recording with its length, their name and their grade. A discussion's row shows the student's share of the talk and their quiz score, such as 28% of the talk · quiz 4 of 4, and another assignment's row shows the day they submitted. Pressing the row opens the video. Grade opens a video that waits for your grade, Comment opens one that waits for your comments, and Full report opens the student's report.
Watch the exampleThe assignment's example video.
Watch your rehearsalThe recording you made in a preview seat with Preview as student. The tiles and the list count the students' videos only.
Watch the group recordingThe discussion's shared recording, with every student in it.
Feedback held and Release feedbackFeedback held appears while feedback is held. Press Release feedback so students see their grades and comments.
SettingsAI grading says what the AI does with each grade. How the grade is made says whether the grade is the rubric's total or a mix set by weights. Rubric shows its name and points, and View opens it. Canvas column says whether grades go to a column in Canvas and when they were last sent. Quiz shows its questions and when students answer them. Change opens the panel for its line, and Edit opens Edit assignment.

Edit an assignment

Edit assignment is the page where you change an assignment after you create it. The Studio saves each change as you make it, and Done returns you to the assignment page. More settings, in the Details step, lists additional values that you can change in Edit assignment after you create the assignment. A change to How the AI's grade is used applies to recordings that still need a grade, and grades that are already posted stay as they are.

Questions

Hold for my review is a good choice for a first graded assignment. The AI fills in the rubric for you to check before you post the grade.

No pack appears as a card in the Pack step when your class has no packs or more than one pack. Start from scratch is the last card in each pack, and it lets you write your own steps with the settings from that pack. Your own buyer lets you write your own scenario in the Scenario step of Pitch to a Buyer.

Preview as student in the left rail opens the course as a student in a private preview seat, where you can open the assignment and record a rehearsal.
