Grades and Canvas

Posted grades reach Prepara automatically, and selected grades reach Canvas after you confirm a send.

Where a grade goes

Every grade you post in the Studio goes to Prepara's gradebook. Canvas receives a grade only when you send it from the assignment's Canvas panel.

The Canvas panel

The Canvas panel manages an assignment's column and grade sends. The assignment's owner or an admin manages it. The column starts off for each assignment.

A connected real class in Prepara supplies the Canvas connection.

The review list shows graded students with Prepara accounts and explains exclusions. Earlier sends records each send and each student's result.

Send grades to Canvas

Enable the columnTurn on Send this assignment's grades to a Canvas column.
Set its name and pointsFill in Column name in Canvas and Out of (points), then press Save the name and points.
Prepare the columnPress Create the Canvas column, or Update the Canvas column for an existing column.
Review the studentsPress Review the list. Check scores and clear the checkboxes for students you want to exclude.
Confirm the sendPress the button showing the number of selected grades. Check the confirmation and press Send.

Points

Prepara scales each grade to Out of (points) and rounds to two decimal places. The review list shows both values.

Prepara checks the Canvas cell before writing. A later send can raise or lower a grade that Prepara previously wrote.

Due dates and late rules

Canvas applies the due date, late policy, and rules for missing work that you set there. Canvas keeps the assignment's due date when Prepara sends grades.

Put an assignment in a Canvas module

Copy embed code provides the code for placing an assignment in a Canvas page or module. Students open it through Prepara with their own accounts. Assignments that provide feedback only can also appear in Canvas.
